Look: A Farmer’s Son Got Full Scholarship in Harvard University. Find Out How!

Education whether it is formal or informal is useful, because it helps a person learn about the world. Knowledge alone is not enough. However, a good education also teaches a person how to apply that knowledge in everyday lives.

Knowledge of subject-matter and the ability to apply this knowledge effectively is important because that is how most people not only make a living but also how they are able to have good relationships and inspire others.
Just like the Pinoy farmer’s son Romnick L. Blanco received a full scholarship in one of the most prestigious university in the world Harvard University, a rare opportunity that can definitely change his life.
Romnick is from a small municipality in Sierra Madre, the seventh of the nine sons of a farmer who is also trying to make ends meet to survive with his family.
It was not that easy for him to get basic education as the most privileged kids have. In order for him to get to school as a young boy, he had to walk for long hours, endure the scorching heat of the sun and cross rivers.
He had to make a lot of sacrifices, believing that having a good education is his only chance to get a better life not only for him, but for his family as well.

Romnick together with other poor kids in the community got an opportunity to acquire English and computer classes as well as public education with the help of Greenearth Heritage Foundation.
He was an outstanding student and excelled among other kids in English literacy which soon got recognized by the foundation.
Soon thereafter, the young boy was given a five-year scholarship at the International School Manila (ISM) where he pursued different activities. He again showcased his skill and knowledge in which he was awarded Most Outstanding in Theater for two consecutive years.
Aside from that, he was able to get a full scholarship as well from top universities like Dartmouth College, Wesleyan University, the New York University at Abu Dhabi and Harvard University.

However, Romnick will be taking the advantage of a gap year before going to prestigious university. He’ll be travelling around the Philippines, plant more trees, learn practical skills and teach farmers children and fellow scholars theaters lesson.

True enough, Romnick is an inspiration to other kids who are trying to pursue their studies in spite of hardship and difficulties.

“If they write about me, people will be happy to read my story for two minutes, feel good, be inspired, and then they will quickly forget. But if they talk about the kind of community I come from, full of hopelessness, poverty, and despair, and talk about how GreenEarth Heritage Foundation is addressing the problems, that will serve a bigger group of people beyond myself, I think that has more impact.”

So, Netizens what do you think about Romnick story.
