THROWBACK TREASURE: 90’s Babies! Remember Your Generation’s BIGGEST HEARTTHROB? Here They Are!

Girls these days are very lucky to stalk their idols anywhere, anytime they like.Thanks to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram where fans can actually follow their favorite idols in just one click of their phone.


Looking back in the 90’s when smartphones nor social media were not available back then, girls still had their kilig moments whenever they watch their heartthrob idol on television shows and movie theater. Although they could only follow them on television, movies and magazines, their fans were still there to support them.


It’s been two decades since then, but some of them are still very visible and active in show business,  they even remain hot and good looking as ever.


Here’s the list of the heartthrob in the 90’s
1. Jomari Yllana (1991)- He first rose to fame as one of the members of 1990s teen group “Gwapings” along with Mark Anthony Fernandez, Eric Fructuoso and later with Jao Mapa.Aside from being an actor, He also was a successful commercial and promotional model for the Bench clothing line. Currently, Jomari together with controversial politician Ronald “Ronnie” Singson, heads the Fearless Productions, a joint business venture which produces and promotes concerts in the Philippines to international and local artists.

2. Basti Artadi (1992)-  He’s the lead vocalist of Wolfgang (a Filipino rock band). Wolfgang is notable for being the only Filipino rock band to release albums in Japan and the United States and for realizing Platinum record sales in their home country. However, Basti is currently dealing with brain tumor and health issues.




3. Vhong Navarro (1993) – As part of the dance group Streetboys, Navarro was discovered by director Chito S. Roño who continues to manage him. He is now one of the host in the daily noontime variety show “It’s Show Time”. He frequently appears on the Sunday musical show.




4. Bamboo Manalac (1994)- He began his career as vocalist and original frontman of Rivermaya and later fronted his own band, Bamboo. Bamboo band disbanded in 2011 and Mañalac then pursued a solo career and released his first solo album, No Water, No Moon. He is currently one of the coach and judge for “ The Voice”.



5. Vince Hizon (1995)- is an American-born Filipino retired professional basketball player. He  spent  most of his 11-year pro career for the Ginebra franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association. He is also popularly known as “The Prince” in PBA. Vince is currently the commissioner of the newly founded Filsports Basketball Association, a community-based basketball league in the Philippines.


6. Rico Yan (1996)- 1996 marked as a compelling period on Rico’s career; he became notable. As a matinee idol he was most charming. In June 1996, Yan played the boy next door character in youth-oriented show Gimik. He was also paired with Claudine Barretto and their love team was a huge success at that time. In 2002, at that time his career was at its peak, Rico passed away due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis while asleep (Bangungot in Filipino term). He was only 27.


7. Jericho Rosales (1997)– After winning the Mr. Pogi contest in Eat Bulaga, he became a regular host and performer in the said variety show and has appeared in different television shows. Rosales, however, became a well-known actor after he was paired to actress Angelika dela Cruz. His breakout role came when he played the lead in Pangako Sa ‘Yo alongside actress Kristine Hermosa.In 2000, Jericho was linked to former model Kai Palomares, with whom he has a son, Santino “Santi” P. Rosales.He married Kim Jones in a beach wedding ceremony in Boracay on May 1, 2014.




8. Kenneth Duremdes (1998)– is a Filipino retired professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association. Nicknamed as Captain Marbel, Duremdes is also a former PBA Most Valuable Player in 1998.

9. John Lloyd Cruz (1999)-  His career started with appearances in numerous teen-oriented movies and TV shows. He is a member of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic, where he is an alumnus of Batch 5. He starred in the teen drama Tabing Ilog along with Kaye Abad. He is best known for his work on soap operas such as It Might Be You, Maging Sino Ka Man, I ♥ Betty La Fea, and Immortal.
